Tanya Habjouqa was born in Jordan and pursued her studies in Texas, later receiving her MA in Global Media and Middle East Politics from the SOAS University in London.

Habjouqa’s photographs focus on gender, society, and human rights issues in the Middle East. She approaches her subjects with sensitivity but also with an attraction to the absurd. In 2014 she won a World Press Award for her series 'Occupied Pleasures' in which she documents many of the ludicrous moments of her everyday life during the 47-year occupation of Gaza.

Habjouqa was a finalist for the 2014 FotoEvidence Book Award, and recipient of the Magnum Foundation 2013 Emergency Fund.

Née en Jordanie, Tanya Habjouqa suit ses études au Texas et est diplômée en Médias et Politique du Moyen-Orient de l'Université de Londres SOAS.

Les sujets abordés au sein de ses photographies sont le genre, le social et les droits de l'homme au Moyen-Orient. Son approche du sujet se révèle être très sensible tout en ayant un attrait pour l'absurde. En 2014, elle reçoit le World Press Award pour sa série'Occupied Pleasures' dans laquelle elle relate les moments improbables d'un quotidien vécu après 47 ans d'occupation à Gaza.

Habjouqa a été finaliste pour le prix PhotoEvidence de 2014 et bénéficia du fonds d'urgence de la fondation Magnum en 2013.
