Missak Terzian, Lebanese-American of Armenian descent, is a contemporary visual artist, known for his unique blend of semi-abstract figurative and modern abstract expressionist styles. Born in 1949, in Beirut, Lebanon, he pursued his artistic journey with studies at Ecole d’Art Guvder in 1968 and later graduated from the London College of Printing in 1971 where he began working at his father’s printing press as a color corrector. With over 30 years of experience, Terzian participated in yearly group exhibitions between the late 1960s and mid-1980s, and then worked on solo exhibitions starting 1984, after taking part in over 140 exhibitions worldwide. Terzian portrays all his subjects in a recognizable manner, all while keeping the shape abstract in which, through distortion, expressed internal and mental emotions.
Today, Terzian had gained enough traction and became a full-time artist, holding a household name in the Lebanese cultural field. His work has been displayed and collected in various countries including, Armenia, Lebanon, Russia, United-States, France, and many more. Terzian's work has gained appreciation and recognition globally, where his art is part of a variety of private collections including those of the Saudi Royal family, and are permanently displayed in many distinguished institutions, such as the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, and the Sursock Museum in Beirut.
