Lebanese Artist and curator Abed Al Kadiri focuses on the artistic themes of constraint and deprivation of freedom in society by examining contemporary cultural issues including heritage, occupation, migration, and belonging in his work.

Al Kadiri studied Arabic Literature and Fine Arts at the Lebanese University, and at the eruption of the 2006 Lebanon War, he relocated to Kuwait. There he worked as an art critic. In 2010 He established the FA Gallery, Kuwait, and in early 2012 he took on the role of Director at Contemporary Art Platform, Kuwait. In this position, he curated numerous exhibitions, developped an extensive education program, and initiated numerous art exchange programs between Asia, Europe and the Middle East. He recently moved back to Lebanon to focus on his career as an artist and independent curator.

Al Kadiri's solos include Abu Ghraib (2006), In the Corner (2008) and Identity Turbulences (2011) Witnesses (2011). He has participated in several group exhibitions regionally and internationally, showing in places such as Kuwait, Bahrain, Dubai, Doha, Istanbul, Paris, London, Hungary and Basel. His work can found in private and public collections.

Artiste et conservateur d’art Libanais, Abed Al Kadiri se centre autour des thèmes artistiques de la contrainte et du manque de liberté dans la société. Dans ce contexte, il examine dans son œuvre surtout des questions culturelles et contemporaines, dont l’héritage culturel, l’occupation, la migration et l’appartenance.

Al Kadiri fit ses études en Littérature Arabe et Beaux Arts à l’Université Libanaise. Lorsque la Guerre du Liban éclata en 2006, il dut se relocaliser au Kuwait où il construit sa carrière de critique artistique. En 2010, il établit la FA Gallery, et en 2012, il accepta le rôle de directeur du Contemporary Art Platform. Sous cette position,  il conserva plusieurs exposés, développa un programme d’éducation rigoureux et initia de nombreux programmes d’échange entre l’Asie, l’Europe et le Moyen Orient. Il est récemment rentré au Liban afin de se concentrer sur sa carrière artistique.

Les exposés solo d’Al Kadiri comprennent Abu Ghaib (2006), In the Corner (2008) et Identity Turbulences (2011). Il a participé aussi à plusieurs exposés collaboratifs, dans des milieux régionaux ainsi qu’internationaux, ayant exposé dans des endroits tels que Kuwait, Bahrain, Dubai, Doha, Istanbul, Paris, Londres, Budapest, et Bâle.  Ses œuvres peuvent se trouver en collections privées et publiques.
