ART WYNWOOD - Booth #AW304

13.02.2020 -17.02.2020 LOCATION AND HOURS Opening Thursday, February 13, 2020, 6-10 PM General admissions: February 14-17, 11AM-7PM

Location : THE ART WYNWOOD PAVILION, One Herald Plaza @ NE 14TH Street On Biscayne Bay

- Paris and Latin American art - Right from the onset, Kinetic Art was at the centre Galerie Mark Hachem’s focus and over the following three decades, the gallery collaborated with many prestigious artists. For Art Wynwood 2020 Mark Hachem is proud to present artists from the Op Art movement as well as major creations from the Latino American art sphere. Early on in the 20th century, Paris became a haven for artists from all over the globe, hosting generations of painters and sculptors struggling for success and recognition by the tough Parisian public. South American artists, often pushed into exile to the city of lights by strife and their countries’ authoritarian regimes, contributed to making Paris the capital of Latin American art for over 50 years. (cf: “untitled” by Chilean artist Roberto Matta, depicting General Pinochet’s 1973 military coup) At Art Wynwood, Galerie Mark Hachem showcases pieces by Roberto Matta and Wifredo Lam, highlighting how they were influenced by the cubist and French surrealist movements. Kinetic Art is also in the spotlight at the Mark Hachem booth. Latino American artists were central to the creation of the movement and it helped establish and then cement their integration into the French art scene, Kinetism being the only artistic trend in the 20Th century that successfully challenged the European centric art landscape. At Art Wynwood, Galerie Mark Hachem celebrates the work of the Venezuelan masters and main players in the Kinetic Art field, Jesus Rafael Soto, Carlos Cruz Diez, Dario Perez Flores, René Ugarte, Francisco (Pancho) Salazar, Rafael Pérez et Rafael Barrios. Also, on show, works by Fernand Léger, who taught Brazilian artist Tarsila do Amaral, as well as sculptures by Hussein Madi and Philippe Hiquily.
